Sealey Elementary

In December, 2000, Sealey Elementary was given the designation of math and science magnet program by the school board. The math and science curriculum was transformed from a traditional curriculum into inquiry-based learning experiences through the use of hands-on material and technology. Sealey Elementary Math and Science Magnet School prepares students to be responsible, respectful independent learners who will grow in their intellectual, physical and emotional development in a way that increases academic performance and encourages student and school success. Field trips and high interest materials are designed to connect classroom learning to real life, encourage parent involvement and develop a close relationship with community partners. There are eight science themes included: The nature of matter, energy, force and motion, processes that shape the earth, earth and space, processes of life, how living things interact with their environment, and the nature of science. Mathematics at Sealey is a comprehensive program, combining the essential elements of computation, concepts and application.
